Creature with the Atom Brain Daybill: Original or Reissue?

By on November 13, 2012

Creature with the Atom Brain Daybill is a great looking Australian poster but has anyone noticed the discrepancy between the printer details and the date the film was released? The film was released in 1955 but the printer is Robert Burton who started printing daybills much later than 1955.

It is possible that Creature with the Atom Brain might have been banned in 1955 and not released in Australia until the 60s – much later than the original US release.

One collector points out that an original poster for this title would have been printed by W.E.Smith.

The problem is that the only known daybill style for this title is the one printed by Robert Burton.

What do you think? Comments welcome.

According Robert Burton’s current website, they started in 1950 with 3 staff printing movie posters for companies such as Columbia and Twentieth Century Fox.

I think their records/memory might be a little fuzzy. I have spoken to a number of ex employees who knew “Bob” very well and they all say that they started printing posters much later. Heres a link to their website anyway …
